After all, when i start /etc/init.d/mysql start, i have this error :

How can i fix it?

This problem has bothered me enough to come up with below script to check and fix the /Applications and /Library directory trees. (I leave /System, /usr, /bin etc. alone since I found no problems here on my machines, but the script will still display a short report about “noteworthy stuff” in these directories, too.)

However, this does not work to switch tabs in Nautilus or Gnome-Terminal which is frustrating because the same actual keyboard combinations of Control + PageUp/PageDown DO perform the tab switch actions in those programs…

Solved my problem by installing xautomation and modifying my xbindkeysrc as follows:

I had it working fine, but I upgraded to 12.04 (precise pangolin) now with rhythmbox 2.96 and the plugin stopped working. I repeated the steps above and nothing. I suppose the main problem is that “New Style Last.fm Scrobbler” doesn’t appear in the rhythmbox’s components list.

Please let me know if theres is something I should do. Thanks in advance.

today, i’ve installed Ubuntu 12.04 final version (which war released today),
it comes with rhythmbox 2.96, so your apt-repo does not work for me and now :(

have you planned to port your plugin to this newer version? would have been very nice!

I confirm that using “/usr/bin/mysqld_safe &” is good enough to start MySQL from a chroot environment under Ubuntu 11.10

No other changes are needed. Just start up your web server and then MySQL to get minimal services running. Good luck and thank you for this tutorial along with helpful comments from other admins.

I probably should make a stand-alone plugin package for this…
The current patch (v3t) applies to Rhythmbox 2.95 with a little fuzz. So yes, it should work with that version.

(Actually, I do have a Ubuntu precise repository. I just have to update it for the latest Ubuntu builds of Rhythmbox 2.95).

The current version (1.2.0) should work fine with Adium 1.5. Actually any version of the plugin >= 1.1.0 should.

Yea, I currently reuse Adiums built-in contact management, more or less in the same way as the log viewer.
Facebook contacts definitely are problem. I’ll consider your ideas for the next version.

Ohh and another thing.. It would be cool, if you could sort, and by that I mean group, the left pane of CLA by either name alphabetically, or by network, so all facebook contacts are grouped, and maybe you can think of some more useful grouping ways…

You have to install my PGP key, so that apt is able to check the integrity of the files. See the wget/apt-key line above.

I done as you suggested and installed aptitude separate then swaped ‘aptitude’ with ‘apt-get’ however despite this I’m unable to install the plug in due to the error shown above.

Any idea what the root of this could be or have I made a wrong step?

It works now, finally I don’t have to use the buggy last.fm plugin… Dankeschön!

And yeah, a GUI solution could help some not so nerdy peeps :)

Ah, sorry. I assumed aptitude gets installed by default. But it looks like you have to install it via the software center or “sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install aptitude” first. Alternatively above commands should work when you replace “aptitude” with “apt-get”.

(I probably should document the GUI way to install the plug-in).
